Picton Shore Excursion: Gondola Hill 4WD Tour - Christchurch, New Zealand

Travel with a small group by 4WD to the top of Gondola Hill for a sweeping panoramic view of Picton. This shore excursion provides cruise ship passengers with a quick look at the many waterways of the stunning Marlborough Sounds. You'll learn about the natural landmarks from your guide.

When your cruise ship pulls into port, take a shuttle to meet your guide at a central location near the i-SITE at Picton Harbour. From here, you'll set off in a 4WD Land Rover with a small group of up to six passengers.
The 1-hour shore excursion whisks you away on a 20-minute drive up the privately owned, bush-clad, Gondola Hill. With a height of 1,500 feet (457 meters), the hill offers gorgeous views of the picturesque Marlborough Sounds. The lookout has plenty of room to walk around and provides an ideal vantage point over the region's sunken river valleys and numerous bays and coves. Take time for photos and some local history along with interpretation of the formation of the Sounds from your guide and driver, prior to being returned to the Picton waterfront. 
Please note: The 4WD track to the top of Gondola Hill is well formed; however, it is not accessible when wet.
