Waitomo Day Trip with Option to Add Hobbiton from Rotorua - Rotorua, New Zealand

Full day tours from Rotorua to the Famous Waitomo Caves. The Waitomo Glowworm Caves are one of New Zealand's oldest and most recognized attractions. We offer a variety of Dry Walking cave tours and Wet Black Water Rafting Tours for those more adventurous (See tour options). You can also add on a 2 Hour Hobbiton Movie Set Tour where you will be immersed into the iconic Movie Set Location - No need to be a Lord of the Rings fan to enjoy this idyllic tour.

You can either end your day back in Rotorua or carry on to Auckland. Please note; if you decide to end your day in Auckland and do not want to join the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour you will have a 2 hour wait at Hobbiton to relax in their cafe (aptly named The Shires Rest) or peruse their gift shop for some iconic souvenirs.

Depart from Rotorua at approximately 6.45am from the Rotorua i-Site (accommodation pick ups from 6.25am) in a comfortable 11-seat van or 24-seat mini-bus. From Rotorua you can enjoy the almost two hour scenic drive to Waitomo.

Arriving at Waitomo at approximately 9:00 am, begin your chosen activity.  Please Note;  if you decide to do our Glowworm Cave only tour you will have up to 4 hours of free time in Waitomo to enjoy further activities such as Bush Walks through native New Zealand Flora, Lunch or other caving options. Please ask your driver for more details on the day.

We depart Waitomo at 2pm (Summer) or 1pm (Winter) for Hobbiton or Rotorua. You will be back in Rotorua by 4pm if you are not doing the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour.   Please Note; If you decide to finish your day in Auckland but do not want to do the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour you will still have 2 hours of free time to relax at the Hobbiton cafe (aptly named The Shires Rest) or peruse their Gift Shop for some idyllic kiwi souvenirs.  

If chosen: Enjoy a 2-hour Hobbiton Movie Set tour, where you will see famous locations such as Bilbo's home Bag End, the Green Dragon Inn, and the Party Tree. You'll be amazed by the beauty, history, and size of this location. A complimentary refreshment is also available at the end of your Movie Set Tour.

After, return to Rotorua by 7pm (summer) or 6.30pm (Winter) or finish in Auckland by 8pm (Summer) or 7pm (Winter).
